What's the story with my Jeep Wrangler ticking noise?
I have a Jeep Wrangler that I’ve owned for years. I’ve kept it well maintained, so I haven’t had any issues until now. Recently, I’ve noticed a ticking noise when I start the car or when I drive, but I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. What might be the cause?

The Jeep Wrangler isn’t known to have a common ticking noise on any of its models, so it could be several things:
- Exhaust manifold crack or leak
- Work lifters
- Bad solenoid or solenoid valve
If you check each of these out, you should be able to find the problem—unless something more troublesome is at play. The only way to know for sure is to take your Wrangler to a mechanic as soon as possible so a minor issue doesn’t turn into a catastrophic ordeal.
