You’ll have to go back to 2016 to find a Toyota Corolla
model year that offers both the LE
and the S trims—the LE was the second-lowest trim level available, while the S, or Sport trim, was the top trim for the 2016 Corolla. The 2016 Toyota Corolla offered the same engine across all trims (except for the LE-Eco trim)—a 1.8-liter 4 cylinder engine with 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. All trims came with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), but the S was also offered with a six speed manual transmission.
The LE trim’s extra features include bigger (than the base trim) 16-inch steel wheels, variable intermittent wipers, keyless entry, auto climate control, cruise control, a rearview camera, and metallic interior accents. It was eligible for the Entune Plus audio option, which adds HD radio and satellite radio, as well as a GPS app that displays a smartphone’s navigation on the Corolla’s touchscreen.
The S trim gets everything the LE does, but adds more flair. On the interior, that comes in the form of sport front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, paddle shifters, Sport instrumentation, and a Sport driving mode on the CVT. Exterior accents include a chrome grille frame, unique wheel covers, rear spoiler, and a chrome exhaust tip.
