Great question! The 911 is one of the best Porsches ever made, but not every year was made equal. When purchasing a used 911, it’s important to factor in what you want from it.
If you’re looking for the original features and delights that Porsche lovers expect, then a 911 from 1964 to 1989 will do the trick. Likewise, if you’re hoping to use your 911 as an investment piece, 911s from 1964 to 1989 will offer the most value.
On the other hand, if you’re on a budget, you’ll be better off opting for a 1999 to 2004 model. Finally, if you’re okay with spending a few extra dollars for a nicer look, the 2012 to 2018 model years won’t disappoint.
Before you speed off to get your 911, it’s worth mentioning the bad 911 model years: 1999 to 2004, in particular, the 2002 model. While inexpensive, this model had 13 registered complaints, three recalls, and an investigation.
