An epic cross country road trip has been on my bucket list for years, and this summer I’ve decided I’m going to do it! What’s the best scenic route from Florida to California?

What an incredible adventure! There are a ton of options for routes and a dizzying array of things to see along the way.
A drive from
Florida
to California
will take five to six days at least, and will cover around 2,600 miles on the low end. Here’s a quick breakdown of one possible scenic (but longer) option. Note: this route includes toll roads.- JacksonvilletoNew Orleansvia I-10: Take in the beauty of the Gulf Coast and stop for a visit in incredible NoLa.
- New Orleans toSan Antoniovia I-10: See the Alamo and ask where the basement is—the tour guides LOVE that.
- San Antonio toOklahoma City: Take I-35 to hit lovelyAustinand the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Then pick up I-40 in Oklahoma City.
- Oklahoma City to Albuquerque: Take I-40 west toAlbuquerque. This route allows you to get your kicks on parts of historic Route 66!
- Flagstaff toCalifornia: Keep cruising on I-40 until you get to Cali, then head to your preferred destination! We recommend patronizing a local taqueria and the beach, but you do you.
