What’s the best route from Mount Rushmore to Yellowstone?
My friends and I are planning an epic road trip to see some national parks and monuments this summer, and I’m in charge of finding a way from Mount Rushmore to Yellowstone. Any suggestions for the best route?

The best route from Mount Rushmore to Yellowstone is via US-16 West. This route is about 419 miles and will take you around 7.5 hours if you drive straight through with no stops.
But with all the amazing things to see on the way, we definitely recommend you take a few extra days and take in the sights! Here are a few suggestions for cool things see in between Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone:
Devil’s Tower National Monument
—this iconic rock formation was the first national monument in the United States.
Grand Teton National Park
is south of Yellowstone, and definitely worth the drive.
