What year was the first Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS made?

I have a 1980s Chevy Monte Carlo, and I’d thought they stopped making them after 1988. A friend of mine just bought a used 1990s Monte Carlo LS, though, so I was wondering when those started being made?

You’re right, your G-Body style Monte Carlo ceased production in 1988, but
Chevrolet
revived the
Monte Carlo
nameplate on a new chassis when the first
Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS
was manufactured in 1995.
The 1995 Monte Carlo LS offered features, such as:
  • 3.1L V6 engine
  • standard A/C
The LS was the entry-level trim for the 1995 Monte Carlo, which also included a short run of 400 Z34s. Z34 upgrades included embroidered leather, an aero wing spoiler, and an accent stripe package.
