What voids a Tesla warranty?
I’m thinking of making some customized modifications to my Tesla but don’t want to void a warranty. What sorts of things would put me at risk?

There are several ways you could void your Tesla’s warranty. In general, to maintain your warranty, you are responsible for:
- Complying with any recall advisories
- Only carrying passengers and cargo within specified load limits
- Making all repairs
- Proper operation of the vehicle
Some of the most common things that will void your Tesla warranty include:
- Defacing, altering, disconnecting, or rendering inoperative the VIN, odometer, or other related system, or making it difficult to determine the VIN or actual mileage • Having your vehicle labeled or branded as dismantled, fire-damaged, flood-damaged, junk, rebuilt, salvage, reconstructed, irreparable, or a total loss • Having your vehicle identified as totaled by an insurance company
You are also responsible for receiving and maintaining detailed and accurate records of your vehicle’s maintenance, including the 17-digit VIN, servicing center name and address, mileage, date of service or maintenance, and description of service or maintenance items.
Although Tesla does not require you to perform all service or repairs at a Tesla Service Center or Tesla authorized repair facility. Tesla Service Centers and Tesla authorized repair facilities have special training and tools with respect to your vehicle and may be the only facilities certified to work on certain parts of your Tesla.
If you sell your Tesla during the warranty period, make sure to transfer all records or repairs and maintenance to the subsequent owners so the warranty remains valid.
