Before you add oil to your car, use the dipstick to check the oil level to make sure your car needs more. To do this, follow these steps:
Open the hood and remove the dipstick.
Wipe the dipstick clean on a paper towel.
Replace the dipstick carefully, trying not to touch the sides of the tube.
Carefully remove the dipstick and look to see how much oil is in your oil reservoir.
