What states are U-turns legal in?
I got a ticket for an illegal U-turn a few days ago and the cop was rather evasive about why I got the ticket. He simply told me that U-turns were illegal throughout Portland, Oregon, where I live. Is this true? What states have laws against U-turns?

Oregon
has strict laws regarding U-turns. It’s the only state in the country where U-turns are almost always illegal.The reason that you received a ticket is because of where you made the U-turn. Unless you saw a U-turn sign where you made the maneuver, Oregon law states that U-turns are illegal in all cities and towns.
However, U-turns are legal in Oregon where marked,provided you have at least 1,000 feet of visibility when you make the U-turn. In the future, you may want to consider turning around in a parking lot or a side street rather than performing a U-turn on a major thoroughfare.
