What speed is considered reckless driving in Georgia?

My friend just got a speeding ticket, and it says they’re being charged with reckless driving. I don’t know how fast they were going, but that seems a little excessive. At what speed do you need to drive for it to be considered reckless driving in Georgia?

Reckless driving in
Georgia
isn’t as simple as driving a certain speed over the limit. In fact, reckless driving is a heavily circumstantial charge that can be relevant in a variety of situations.
In short, reckless driving is defined as driving with a disregard for people or property. That means that the driver must be:
  • Aware that their behavior is dangerous
  • Driving in a dangerous manner
For example, driving 20 miles over the speed limit is clearly speeding, but it typically wouldn’t be considered reckless driving. However, if you were to drive 20 miles over the speed limit in a school zone while kids were outside, you could be charged with reckless driving. Alternatively, speeding while trying to weave through traffic could also be considered reckless driving.
