Instead, the law relies on the **police officer who pulls you over to determine whether you were driving recklessly.Speeding can be considered reckless driving in Arizona if it shows that you have a wanton disregard for the safety and property of other motorists. Other circumstances that can result in a reckless driving charge include:
- A pattern of consecutive moving violations, such as swerving, turning without signaling, and weaving through traffic
- Donuts or burnouts
- Road rage
- Certain types of traffic accidents where you are considered at-fault
You should certainly take care not to get a reckless driving charge, as it’s a Class 2 misdemeanor in Arizona. It also comes with the following penalties:
- A fine of up to $750 plus court costs, which could total as much as $1,500
- Up to two years of probation
- Up to four months in jail
- Eight points on your driving record
- Suspension of your driver’s license for up to 90 days
