I’m a new driver and I’ve been finding roundabouts to be quite intimidating since I'm not sure what to do. How do I properly enter and exit a roundabout?

Not to worry, we have some simple steps for you to follow so that you can build your confidence getting in and out of roundabouts.
When approaching a roundabout, always slow down and watch for signs. Pedestrians have the right of way at pedestrian crossovers so you must yield to them before entering the roundabout.
Single-lane roundabouts
Yield to traffic in the roundabout before entering. Enter when the lane is clear.
Maintain your speed within the roundabout and travel in a counter-clockwise direction.
Signal right when exiting.
Multi-lane roundabout
Watch for lane-using signs and position your car in the correct lane accordingly.
Yield to traffic in the roundabout before entering. Enter when the lane is clear.
Maintain your speed within the roundabout and travel in a counter-clockwise direction.
When turning right, enter and exit from the right lane and maintain your right turn signal.
When traveling straight, enter from the left or right lane, stay in the same lane, and signal right when you are exiting.
When traveling left or U-turning, enter from the left lane and maintain your left turn signal. Travel in the inner left lane and signal right when you are ready to exit.
Having the appropriate insurance is just as important as knowing the roundabout rules.
