I have to take a driving test to renew my license, but I haven’t taken one in over a decade. I remember most of the rules of the road, but night driving is a bit rusty. What do I do when I’m driving behind another vehicle at night?

is so important, as 40% of accidents happen at night despite 60% less traffic. When you’re driving behind another vehicle at night, follow these steps:- Turn your high beams off, as well as any other lights that could impair the sight of the driver in front of you.
- Give the car in front of you space. Keeping a distance of at least two seconds is preferable, although you may want to extend this if you’re unfamiliar with the road, the road is curvy, or weather is poor.
- Be aware of changing driving conditions and speeds due to weather or construction.
- Keep distractions at a minimum.
- Watch for erratic driving. Up to 55% of DUI cases happen between midnight and 3 a.m., so keeping a watchful eye is essential.
