What should a person do when their insurance company suspects them of fraud after a house fire?
There was a big fire at my sister's house. The insurance company suspects fraud on her part, but my sister insists the fire was an accident. The insurer has given her a $2,200 living allowance and is preparing a lie-detector test for her. Do you have any suggestions for what she should do?

“I am sorry to hear of the fire and I sincerely hope that everyone is okay! In general, it is usually best to simply cooperate with the insurance company so that they can conclude their investigation of the claim.
It is a good idea to review the policy to determine the rights and responsibilities of the insurance company and the insured (your sister). She can also contact her agent for help in reviewing the policy terms.
If there are any issues with the insurance company’s handling of the claim, she should reach out to her state’s Department of Insurance for guidance.
