I’m so glad that you’re double-checking before you stop putting your child in a car seat! Although there is some debate about when kids should stop sitting in safety seats, Texas law is pretty clear.
In Texas, you must use a safety seat if you’re child is:
  • Under eight years old
  • Under 4 feet and 9 inches tall
Texas does not have an official rule when it comes to weight with car seats. The state of Texas does offer a few
general guidelines
, however.
Younger, smaller children are expected to be placed in rear-facing safety seats. You can transition them to forward-facing seats at around four years old or at around 40-65 pounds.
As long as you are abiding by Texas law, you should check with experts to know exactly when your child is ready for the next type of safety seat. It’s generally recommended that no child 13 or under ever sit in the front seat of a car.
And of course, wearing
seat belts
saves lives. Make sure your child is always buckled up before you start driving
If you haven’t revisited your car insurance plan in a while, you might be overspending.
