What is the warranty on a Tesla battery?

My Tesla’s battery isn’t holding a charge and I’m worried something’s wrong with it. I’ve had my Model S for two years. Is it still in warranty?

Sorry to hear your Model S’s battery is acting up. The warranty on a Tesla battery is good for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever happens first.
Since you’ve only had your Model S for two years, it’s likely still within warranty (unless you’ve logged over 100,000 miles).
Here’s what else your Model S warranty includes:
  • 4-year, 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper basic warranty
  • 5-year, 60,000-mile airbags and seatbelts warranty
You also have the option to purchase an extended warranty, which Tesla calls an “Extended Service Agreement.” You have the choice between:
  • An additional 2-year, 25,000-miles Service Agreement
  • An additional 4-year, 50,000-miles Service Agreement
