What is the Toyota Prius oil type?

Congratulations on your car! The
Toyota Prius
oil type is API GF-5 specification or higher motor oil. For newer models, you’ll often see recommendations for SAE 0W-16, OW-20, 5W-50, and 0W-40.The grade will depend on your model so it is best to check your owner’s manual to confirm.
This is important, since using the wrong oil grade can damage your engine and void your manufacturer’s warranty.
If you plan to change your own engine oil to save some money on maintenance, learn as much as possible about the process before you start.
