bumper-to-bumper warranty
, lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. It covers defective components but not components that are damaged by:- Theft
- Misuse
- Accidents
The powertrain warranty, which applies specifically to the engine and transmission, lasts a bit longer. This type of coverage lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.
When you purchase a Toyota, you may decide to pay for an
extended warranty
. These warranties can last as long as ten years or 125,000 miles. However, extended warranties are often considered to be a bad investment. Having a warranty is great, but having great car insurance coverage is even more important.
