What is the hit-and-run investigation process in Florida?

My car was hit by someone a few days ago and they didn’t stop or leave their information. Will a police investigation actually catch the person who did it? I don’t understand how they could possibly find them.

The hit-and-run investigation process in
Florida
might disappoint you. The police will usually only do an in-depth hit-and-run investigation in extreme circumstances—like if someone was injured or killed.
With that being said, law enforcement will typically look to a few different sources for information:
  • Witnesses: Anyone who happened to be nearby when the accident occurred could have valuable insight.
  • Security footage: Security cameras on nearby buildings may have caught the accident.
  • Scene of the crime: If the police get details about the vehicle the culprit was driving, they can search for damaged cars that fit that description near where the accident took place.
Oftentimes, however, it’s difficult to gather enough evidence to convict someone of a hit and run.
