The first step in the Graduated Driver’s Licensing is to obtain an instruction permit. If you’re between the ages of 14 and 16, you’ll need written permission from a parent or guardian to apply. You’ll also have to complete a vision test and a written driver’s test.
Once you have your instruction permit, you’ll need to drive with adult supervision for a minimum of one year before you can apply for your restricted license.

Kansas also offers teens special farm permits, which allow 14 and 15 year olds to drive to or from a farm job and school. At the age of 16, a farm permit becomes less restrictive, allowing teens to drive any time for a farm job, school, and/or religious worship, and between 5am and 9pm for any reason.
