I got carded to buy some beer the other day and I realized that my driver’s license is set to expire in about four months. I hate waiting until the last minute, so I thought I’d take care of it right away. Because Texas licenses last eight years, I can’t remember how much it costs. What’s the cost to renew my driver’s license in Texas?

Texas
is $33 for anyone under age 85. Texas residents older than 85 only have to pay $9 for a renewal.To renew your license in person, you must book an appointment online or by calling the Department of Public Safety office of your choice. Walk-ins are not accepted for license services.

- Mail (this will only work if the State of Texas sends you an official renewal form that states you can renew by mail)
- Telephone by calling 1-866-DLRENEW (1-866-357-3639)
