has been a popular small-size pick-up—but not every model year is the same. If you’re looking for a used Ranger, the best years include 2010, 2007, and 1998.What sets these Rangers apart from other model years? Reliability, efficiency, and safety—if you don’t believe us, here are the stats:
- 2010 Ford Ranger. Top reliability ratings and impressive fuel economy make this model a great option. Edmunds gave the 2010 Ranger a solid 4.2/5.0, and J.D. Power awarded a “great” reliability rating with an 81 out of 100.
- 2007 Ford Ranger. Just a handful of years behind the ‘10 is the ‘07—and we love it for all the same reasons. It’s got solid reliability ratings and impressive fuel economy for its size. It’s also slightly more off-road worthy than its successor.
- 1998 Ford Ranger. This model spearheaded the third generation of Ranger trucks. As such, it sported a ton of new perks—and it’s stood the test of time as a hardy and reliable truck. Both Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book rated this model year a worthy 4.3/5.0.
