Good guess! The Tesla Model 3 is the best selling EV of all time. In fact, it’s the only electric car to surpass one million unit sales.
Sales data is not official, but accurate estimations are possible by reviewing the registration data in each country. Here’s the top 5 best selling electric cars of all time:
- Tesla Model 3 (1,100,00)
- Nissan Leaf (500,000)
- Renault Zoe (320,000)
- Tesla Model S (315,000)
- Tesla Model Y (250,000)
The humble Nissan Leaf is in second place, having sold half a million worldwide, and the Tesla Model Y rounds out the top three with 250,000 units sold.
Nobody should get too comfortable though, the Model Y is expected to leapfrog its rivals into second place by the end of the year.
