San Jose
:- Get on I-280 S
- Take I-680 N, I-580 E, I-205 E, and CA-120 E to Big Oak Flat Road in Tuolumne County
The total trip will be about 165 miles and will take around 3 hours and 21 minutes with normal traffic conditions. This route will take you to the Big Oak Flat Information Station.
The drive to Yosemite isn’t too long, but we do recommend leaving early so you can get the most daylight if you plan to hike. The closest parking to Horsetail Fall is Yosemite Falls Parking Area.
Here are some other helpful tips for your best chance to see the Firefall.
- Get there on time — The window to see the Firefall is extremely small and happens 5 to 15 minutes before sunset. Give yourself several hours to find the best spot to view it.
- Check the weather — A cloudy forecast means there’s a high chance that the Firefall won’t appear.
