What is the best route to Alaska from Seattle?
My friend wants to drive from Seattle to Alaska, but I’m not sure I’m up for a big trip with a bunch of stops. I’d like to make the trip as quick and painless as possible, but I don’t know the best way. What is the best and quickest route to Alaska from Seattle?

Alaska
from almost anywhere is a big trip that requires patience and plenty of time. It isn’t a trip that can be rushed or done quickly because the roads and environment are complex, hazardous, and beautiful. Your route will depend on your end destination, but generally speaking, this is the best route to Alaska from
Seattle
:- Hop on I-5 north
- Take exit 255 to WA-542 E
- At Nugents Corner, get on WA-9 heading north
- Cross the border into Canada, continuing north on BC-11
- Merge onto the Trans-Canada Highway (BC-1) going east
- At Cache Creek, take BC-97 north
- As you approach Prince George, turn left onto BC-16, heading west
- Stay on BC-16 for almost 300 miles
- Take BC-37 north
- Turn left onto Yukon 1 (Alaska Highway), heading west
- Cross the border into Alaska
Here are a few essentials you’ll need to prepare for your big drive:
- Valid passport for your drive through Canada
- Proof of insurance (both car and health) for any incidents that may occur on the road

- Extra non-perishable food and water in case you get stuck
