What is the benefit of unlimited PIP coverage?

Is unlimited PIP worth the extra cost? My car insurance policy offers an option for unlimited personal injury protection coverage. I have a good health insurance plan.

“You could still benefit from unlimited PIP on your
car insurance
policy even if you have a good health insurance plan.
Unlimited
personal injury protection
will pay for all costs associated with your injuries in an accident. PIP often also covers things like:
  • rehabilitation
  • attendant care
  • surgical operations
  • funeral expenses
To determine whether unlimited PIP is beneficial to you, you’ll want to look at the benefits that your health insurance provides. If your health insurance provides the same benefits that PIP does, you likely can reduce your coverage to a lower amount.
If PIP covers more than what your health insurance does, it may be worth the extra cost to ensure your medical expenses would be covered if you’re injured in an accident. If unlimited PIP is too expensive, you should consider carrying the highest amount of coverage you can afford.”
