What is the 2015 Hyundai Elantra’s oil type?

I moved out of my parents house pretty recently, and I know I need to take my car for an oil change soon. I never scheduled one myself before, and I admit I don’t know as much about my car as I should. What is the 2015 Hyundai Elantra’s oil type?

You can usually find the type of oil your car needs in your car’s owner’s manual, but in case you don’t have it—a 2015
Hyundai Elantra
uses SAE 5W-20 engine oil. That said, you actually don’t need to know your car’s oil type in order to schedule an oil change. The mechanic will ask for your car’s make and model, but they’ll be able to look up the type of oil it needs.
In addition to getting your oil changed every 5,000 miles, here are some other car maintenance tips:
  • Look up your car’s recommended maintenance schedule online or in your owner’s manual and follow it as closely as you can. When you take your car in for “maintenance” the mechanic will inspect your car’s fluids, filters, belts, hoses, and other parts.
  • Get a wheel alignment every 6,000 miles to extend the life of your tires.
  • Replace your tires every 50,000 miles.
  • Have your battery tested every five years, and get a new one if it’s low on power.
  • Replace your wiper blades every six to 12 months or anytime you notice streaks on your windshield.
  • Top off your window washing fluid every three months.
That might sound like a lot of work, but staying on top of your car maintenance is a great way to save money in the long run, since you’re more likely to catch small issues before they turn into bigger and more expensive problems.
