Vehicle safety is important! According to a study by Swedish insurance company Folksam, Saab’s safest car is the 9-5. According to reports, it’s almost 45% safer than the average car.
As part of the study, Folksham did an in-depth analysis of 76,000 accidents and investigated 27,000 personal injuries over eight years. The research is based on police resources, medical journals, and accidents involving real people, not crash-test dummies.
According to Folksam’s results, the number of people killed and injured in traffic accidents would be cut by 42% if everyone in Sweden drove a Saab 9-5, translating to about 120 lives saved per year.
Euro NCAP’s report for the Saab 9-5 gave it a 90% safety rating for adults, 80% for children, and 44% for pedestrians, thanks to things like active head restraints and altering the placement of the ignition to keep drivers safe. And the IIHS tested the car in 2005, giving it good and acceptable ratings.
