In Washington state, reckless driving is defined as the willful or wanton disregard for the safety of the public and properties. It is considered a gross misdemeanor, and drivers who are convicted will face a maximum of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
Reckless driving includes the following:
- Driving 25+ mph over the posted speed limit
- Trying to escape law enforcement
- Unsafely crossing over to the left of center to pass a vehicle
- Street or public highway racing
Since you are moving to another state, you will be required to update or switch to a new car insurance policy.
