What is an Audi disposition fee?

I decided it would be better for me to lease instead of buying a car . When I visited the Audi dealership, the dealer helping me brought up a “disposition fee,” but I didn’t want to admit I didn’t know what that was! What is an Audi disposition fee?

If you lease a car from
Audi
, your Audi disposition fee is a charge for when you return the vehicle after your lease wraps up.
The cost of a disposition fee can vary depending on the dealership, your location, and the type of vehicle you rent. Edmunds places the average disposition fee as falling between $300 and $400. The fee is designated for cleaning up the vehicle and making other preparations to sell it or lease it again.
In most cases, you won’t be able to avoid that Audi disposition fee. Still, in some cases, your Audi disposition fee may be waived if you decide to buy the car when your lease is over or if you choose to lease or buy another Audi vehicle from the dealership after it. If you buy a different Audi after your lease is over, it typically has to be a new or certified pre-owned vehicle.
If you decide to lease an Audi from that dealership—or any vehicle, for that matter—be sure to read the terms to understand how much your disposition fee (and other fees) will cost, and what conditions apply to them.
