What is an abstract driving record in Texas?

What’s the difference between a regular Texas driving record and an abstract driving record? I don’t understand how I can have multiple records.

There are a few different types of driving records in
Texas
, each of which displays slightly different information. An abstract driving record in Texas shows a summary of a user’s complete driving record, including any previous violations, charges, suspensions, etc.
If you’d like to request your own driving record abstract, you can do so at your local DMV branch or online at dps.texas.gov. The abstract will cost $20 and will show all previous driving-related charges, many of which will affect your car insurance rates.
