Sorry to hear about your ticket! A moving violation in Pennsylvania is when you violate a traffic law while your car is in motion.
Most people associate moving violations with speeding or making an illegal turn because they are some of the most common reasons why drivers are pulled over and ticketed. But, you can also be cited for a moving violation for such offenses as not wearing a seatbelt or driving with a burned-out headlight or taillight.
In Pennsylvania, a moving violation could add anywhere from two to five points to your driving record depending on the seriousness of the offense. The first time a driver in Pennsylvania reaches six points, they will be required to take a written knowledge test that addresses safe driving practices. Failure to complete and pass this mandatory test within 30 days of being ordered to take it will result in license suspension.
