What is a 2012 Honda Civic Si’s oil type?

My older sister just got a new ride, so she’s handed down her 2012 Honda Civic Si to me. I refused, saying I would only drive an American-made car, so she responded by saying that I should enjoy driving my air car (she was referring to the fact that I… don’t have a car). After talking some sense into me and taking me for a quick spin, I was hooked—I really enjoyed driving this nimble, quick, and efficient car! So, what type of oil does a 2012 Honda Civic Si require?

The 2012
Honda Civic Si’s
oil type is 0W-20.
The Si’s engine oil capacity is 3.9 quarts. Honda recommends SAE 0W-20 synthetic motor oil, and we here at Jerry are sure you’ll enjoy the spritely compact sedan.
Once you get your hands on this Japanese dream, there are a few things you should know about taking care of it, including how to stay on top of its oil situation.
The 0W-20 motor oil your Honda Civic Si needs is unique in that it works exceptionally well in sub-zero weather, making cold-weather starts a snap.
The 0 and the 20 refer to your oil’s viscosity, or thickness. The 0 means the oil stays thin at extremely cold temperatures, and the W means winter. The 20 tells you that the oil stays thin and viscous at relatively higher temperatures, as well.
Using synthetic motor oil is also easier on your engine, as it contains better-quality additives than regular motor oil. This means you’ll have to change your oil less often, about every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, as opposed to every 3,000 to 5,000 miles for standard motor oil.
Before squealing out of the driveway in that Civic Si, remember to check your oil. Your Civic Si’s oil should be amber or light brown, and it should have a smooth consistency. If your oil color is either black or dark brown, or you smell burning oil or see smoke coming from your engine, that’s a sign you need to change your oil!
