What happens when the water pump goes out while driving?
I just bought a car on the cheap. The seller told me that the water pump might be on its last leg and said it was one of the reasons why he was giving me a discount. I’m not sure if I have enough money to fix it right now. So what happens if the water pump fails while I’m driving?

If the water pump goes out while driving, your car will overheat almost immediately.Without a functional water pump, your vehicle has no way to push coolant into the engine. This will result in your engine overheating, and if you don’t stop the car, you’re looking at permanent damage to your engine and other vital components.
The best idea is to fix the water pump when you get a chance. Budget around $550 for the part and installation.
