What would happen if I got into an accident without ridesharing coverage? I'm going to start driving for a ridesharing app. I don't want to pay for extra insurance. I have insurance on my car currently and would also have the company's insurance.

Once you open the app and make yourself available, you need your own rideshare insurance. After you agree to a ride or trip, your ridesharing coverage with the rideshare company kicks in.
The gap between your auto policy and the rideshare company’s insurance is typically what most personal rideshare insurance plans cover. While it may seem like an extra cost, it will protect you and reduce your out-of-pocket costs if you’re in an accident.
