What happens if you drive with a license from a different state in Rhode Island?

What happens if I get stopped and only have my old state license (North Carolina)? I've lived in the state for a little over a month but haven't had time to get my license changed yet.

“According to the state, new residents in
Rhode Island
have up to 30 days to obtain a new driver’s license.
Since you still have a valid driver’s license from another state, it’s unlikely you would be issued a citation, but may be asked to change your license immediately if stopped for a traffic violation.
Along with your license, make sure that you change your vehicle registration and
car insurance
, which you should carry with you while driving at all times.”
