What happens if my car was stolen and totaled?

I’m in a terrible situation. My car was stolen while we were out of town. We filed a police report and they finally located it, but it’s completely totaled! What do we do now? Will insurance cover a car that’s stolen and totaled?

Oh, no—that is truly a nightmare no one wants to go through. Hang in there!
Fortunately, if your car was stolen and totaled and you have
comprehensive coverage
, there is a good chance that you will recover financially. Comprehensive coverage takes care of costs from non-collision acts—this includes vehicle theft and its resulting damages.
Even if you don’t have comprehensive coverage, you’ll want to make sure you file a claim with your insurance. If your insurer decides to cover you, you’ll likely receive a check for the current market value of your vehicle.
Be sure to report any damaged or missing personal items from your car to both the police and your homeowners or renters insurance, as well. Most plans have coverage for valuable items—such as money, jewelry, and watches.
In cases like this, having comprehensive coverage can be critical to your compensation. If you’re looking to boost your policy for the future,
