What happens if I add full coverage to my car the day after hitting a deer?
I hit a deer last night, just weeks after paying off my car. Because I had paid it off, I switched to liability. But now I'm thinking of switching the policy back to full coverage to avoid paying out of pocket. Can I do this?

“Even if you add the full coverage back to your policy, it won’t help you in this situation. The full coverage needed to be active at the time of the accident. Adding it after the fact means your insurer won’t cover your claim.
If you switch to a full-coverage policy and then lie to the insurer, claiming you hit the deer at a later date, this is

fraud. You’re likely to have your policy canceled and even face criminal charges.It’s tough luck that you hit a deer and have to pay to fix your car yourself. But don’t make your situation even worse by committing fraud.”
