. If you don’t have insurance, you are required to pay out of pocket for any damages or injuries you cause. If you have insurance and an uninsured driver is at fault, you’d need
uninsured motorist coverage
to protect you. While you won’t face a fine for being uninsured, you could face legal troubles if you injure someone or damage their property and aren’t able to cover the costs. If you think an accident would cause you financial hardship, you should carry car insurance, even if it’s not required.”
