In addition to their standard factory warranty, Volkswagen
offers three different extended warranties: Platinum, Gold, and Silver. Each includes 10 years/150,000 miles of coverage, but differ in terms of parts covered, deductible, and price. The Platinum policy extends the entire factory warranty’s bumper-to-bumper coverage. This means it’ll cover parts like your vehicle’s engine, electrical system, transmission, air conditioning, and computer.
The Gold plan extends the factory warranty, but only includes the powertrain, front and rear suspension, fuel system, electrical components, and climate control.
Finally, the Silver plan only takes care of the basic parts, so most repair costs aren’t covered, including issues with the electrical system and the steering system.
With each of Volkswagen’s coverage plans, there is a list of excluded items that include parts such as wipers, brakes, spark plugs, and upholstery.
