What does Tesla’s warranty cover?

I’m looking at buying an electric car, but I want to be sure I’m getting a good value. Of course, I’m looking at a Tesla among my options, but what does their warranty cover?

The electric car market is really booming right now, so I’m sure you’re super excited to snag your new EV. Tesla warranty coverage actually varies a bit from model to model, though, so let’s take a closer look at what you can expect.
First, all Tesla models are covered by the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty, which includes:
  • 4-year/50,000-mile basic vehicle “bumper-to-bumper” warranty
  • 5-year/60,000-mile supplemental restraint system warranty
  • 1-year/12,500-mile parts, body, and paint repair warranty
Now, we get to the model-specific part. Your new Tesla will also be covered by a Battery and Drive Unit warranty, but the mileage for this coverage varies by model:
Model
Battery and Drive Unit Warranty
Model S
8-year/150,000-mile
Model X
8-year/150,000-mile
Model 3 RWD
8-year/100,000-mile
Model 3 Long Range
8-year/120,000-miles
Model 3 Performance
8-year/120,000-miles
Model Y
8-year/120,000-miles
