What does Ford’s powertrain warranty cover?
I’m having some car trouble with my Ford Explorer and wondering if it might be covered under the powertrain warranty. What’s included?

Ford’s current powertrain warranty lasts 5 years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes first) and covers the engine, transmission, front-wheel and rear-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
There are some things that your powertrain warranty won’t cover, even if they are related to your vehicle’s powertrain, though. These include:
- Maintenance parts and labor (such as oil changes and tire rotations)
- Regular wear and tear from normal use
- Damage caused by accidents or collisions
- Damage from theft, vandalism, riot, or fire
- Damage from contaminated or improper fuels or fluids
- Damage caused by customer-applied chemicals or accidental spills
- Damage from driving through water deep enough to enter the engine
