What does BMW’s certified warranty cover?
I’m looking at buying a used BMW. I’ve got it narrowed down to two models—one is more expensive, but it includes a certified warranty. The other is cheaper, but it doesn’t include a warranty. What does the BMW certified warranty cover?

Buying used can be a great way to save a bit of cash on a “new” car, but getting one with a certified or “Certified Pre-Owned” warranty is a great way to ensure your car has been fully inspected and reconditioned by the manufacturer. The BMW certified warranty provides bumper-to-bumper coverage for your certified pre-owned BMW after the expiration of its 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Warranty.
The certified warranty is good for 1 year and unlimited miles and it covers components like:
- Transmission
- Engine
- Brakes
- Suspension
- Air conditioning and heating
- Fuel system
The BMW certified warranty does not cover certain components that are prone to wear and tear, including:
- Tires
- Spark plugs
- Windshield wipers (blades and arms)
- Brake pads
- Air conditioning refrigerant
