axle code 97 means.
Code 97 means that your Ranger has a 4.10 non-limited slip differential.
As I’m sure you noticed, that sticker contains a lot of helpful information about your vehicle, including the exterior paint color, trim package, and (of course) type of axle.
A non-limited slip, or “open carrier”, differential sends power to one wheel at a time. So, when one wheel loses traction, the system will shift power to the wheel under the least resistance.
If you’re having issues with your differential, you should speak to a mechanic as soon as possible.
