What do I need to do to get my GM infotainment system to update?
I think I need to update my GM infotainment system. It’s been acting a bit buggy lately, so I’m hoping that would be the fix. How do you perform a GM infotainment system update?

What you need to do to get your GM infotainment system to update will depend on which of GM’s two car companies you’re dealing with. GM owns two major automotive brands—GMC and Chevrolet.
If your GM is a Chevy, then it has the MyLink infotainment system—which you don’t need to do anything to update since it automatically updates itself.
If, on the other hand, your GM is a GMC vehicle, then it uses the GMC IntelliLink entertainment system, which you will need to manually update. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
- Using the display screen, go to the table labeled System.
- Under System, you should see an option called Vehicle Software.
- Under Vehicle Software, you should look for an option called System Update.
- If there are any new updates that you haven’t yet downloaded, that is how you can initialize them.
