What do I do with my car while I am posted overseas?
I am in the military and will be overseas for the next year. I won't be driving my car at all; it will stay garaged at my home in Wisconsin. I don't want to pay for car insurance the whole time. What should I do?

Depending on the rules of your insurance carrier, you may be able to put your car on a storage plan. A storage plan would remove all
liability insurance
and collision insurance
, leaving only comprehensive insurance
for things like fire, theft, and vandalism. There are a few things to keep in mind if you are thinking of going with this option. A car on a storage plan cannot be driven at all. If someone plans to borrow the car from time to time, this isn’t the best choice. If you have a loan on your car, check to make sure the lender is okay with this plan.
