The first thing to do if your Pontiac Montana sliding door won’t open is to check that the fuel door is closed. If the cable that controls this safety feature between your power doors and fuel door becomes worn, your Montana may mistakenly detect the fuel door is open when it’s not. The only fix for this issue is to head to a mechanic or dealer and have this cable replaced.
If your Montana’s door won’t open at all, your day may just be stuck. If that’s the case, try these simple steps to get it working again:
- Check your child lock. If the child lock is engaged, the sliding doors won’t open.
- Spray the door rollers and track with some WD-40.
- Spray some WD-40 into the locking mechanism.
