If you are able to lower the hood to its normal position, here’s what you should do to drive safely to a mechanic:
Secure the hood in its normal position. The best way is to secure the hook on your hood to the latch on the body of the car. This can be done with a zip lock or a knotted piece of rope.
Tape the hood shut with strong adhesive tape, like duct tape or gorilla tape.
Drive slowly with your hazard lights on to the mechanic. Do not drive on the highway.
