What do climate scientists think of electric cars?
I’ve heard a lot from activists online, from the news stations, and even from auto company advertisements about the benefits of electric cars. I am curious, what do climate scientists think of electric cars?

Good question! Many climate change scientists support the adoption of electric cars as they believe that doing our part to reduce emissions will have a significant effect on slowing down climate change.
showed that scientists believe that EVs will help the current climate crisis. Jessika Trancik an Associate Professor in Energy Studies at MIT suggested that if 90% of US vehicles were replaced with battery-powered cars then the US would surpass its climate targets and even reduce transportation emissions by 30% (excluding power plant emissions).
To combat the argument of range anxiety as a deterrent, the scientists argue that judging by current driving behavior and car use, most vehicles would not be used to their maximum capacity daily. Drivers need not be afraid of running out of power, especially as battery technology improves.
