What car battery voltage is too low?

I’m driving my fairly ancient 2005 Pontiac Sunfire to Maine for a holiday this summer. I want to make sure my battery doesn’t give out during my road trip. What’s considered too low for car battery voltage?

Maine
is a beautiful place, and the summer is a perfect time to visit! But, as nice as it is, the last thing you want is to be stranded with a
Pontiac Sunfire
that won’t start. Generally, your car battery voltage is too low if it is reading at 12.4 volts or under.
Your 12-volt battery should read at around 12.65 or higher on your voltmeter if it’s healthy and fully charged. If your battery drops to 12.5 volts, consider recharging it back to a full charge.
Between 12.2 and 12.45, your battery is operating at a 40% to 75% charge, and is on its way out. If your engine is
starting slowly
, your car lights are dim, or you hear a clicking sound when you turn the ignition, get your battery replaced before it fails.
If your voltmeter reads 11.9 or under, your battery is considered dead and needs replacing.
Before you head out on your trip, also consider giving your
